When most automakers want to debut their new models and technologies to the public, it's not unusual for them to make their way from one auto show to the next. It's the way of the industry, but not for our favorite automaker here at BMW of Anchorage. After all, if you want to stay ahead of the curve, it helps to think outside the box. So with the upcoming release of Gran Turismo 6, BMW is doing just that.
For all you non-gamers out there, Gran Turismo is a virtual racing simulator that first debuted on the original Sony PlayStation 15 years ago. As soon as it broke onto the scene, it quickly established itself as the racer to beat and it's only cemented its reputation since then with four more sequels. Not only was that more than enough reason to get us excited for the latest entry's upcoming release, but now that BWM will be contributing a lineup of concept cars that were designed exclusively for the game, we are just chomping at the bit.
In case you're wondering why they opted for PlayStation 4 instead of the showroom floor, like we said, it's all about thinking outside the box.
"Gran Turismo is a very creative opportunity to present our BMW Design vision, which we developed exclusively for this game, in an innovative way," says Andreas-Christoph Hofmann, Vice President of Brand Communication at BMW. "We are very excited and looking forward to the feedback of the global community. It's our way of congratulating Polyphony and Sony for the 15th Anniversary of the Gran Turismo franchise!"1
Unfortunately, we still don't know what these virtual concepts will look or drive like. So until we can play with them on December 6, feel free to learn more about the future of our lineup with a visit to our dealership here in Anchorage, AK. Sometimes it pays to be a gamer.
