Besides the thrills a new BMW provides at the wheel, the automaker wants to make sure that the experience is comprehensive. That means keeping you connected to the outside world. The one device that already does it? A smartphone. So, with that in mind, BMW set out to make the synchronization of apps on our phones easier.
With the introduction of a portable LTE router for all smartphone-connected BMW models, drivers can build their own network right in the confines of their luxury car. It rests on the right-side armrest, and when you put an LTE SIM in, the car builds a WiFi hotspot that can be public or private. You can even take the router with you, where it has 30 minutes of battery life, and enjoy WiFi access in a plethora of places.
It's a great way to enhance car's versatility, access more features on the go, and, it's not a bad thing to save on your data plan, either.
In addition to the new LTE router, there are more streaming apps for iOS users. Audible, Glympse, Rhapsody, and TuneIn Radio are now available using the USB to Lightning cable that connects to BMW iDrive. You now get a smoother, simpler interface and many exciting features at your fingertips.
If you have the smartphone connectivity kit and iDrive, you can utilize both of these apps. To learn more about them, stop in and see us at BMW of Anchorage in our Alaska showroom. We'd be happy to continue the conversation and get you connected with these entertaining features found on new BMW models in our showroom.
