A couple months ago, we here at BMW of Anchorage told you all about what a good first half of the year our favorite automaker had. It was a cause for celebration alright, but now that we're well into September, it's high time we updated you on how the second half has been coming along. And as our August sales numbers will clearly show, things have been going pretty well to say the least.
To give you some background, BMW sold 16,835 units in the US in August of 2012. Last month, they sold 24,523 units. Not only is that a year-over-year sales increase of 45.7%, but it was enough to bring our year-to-date US sales total up to 188,997 vehicles.
If you're wondering what's behind such a momentous surge in sales this year, we'll let our higher-ups break it down for you.
"This has been a summer of momentum, giving us a good tail-wind as we enter the all-important autumn selling season," says Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO of BMW of North America, LLC. "The sales records set before the financial crisis continue to fall and with the arrival of the new [BMW X5] and the new [BMW 4 Series Coupe] in the next couple months, we are heading towards a strong finish for the year."1
So until these new models show up at our dealership, feel free to pay us a visit here in Anchorage, AK to learn more about what's on the horizon. Because if there's anything we've learned from these record-breaking sale numbers, it's that it's all uphill from here.
