It was announced recently that BMW Manufacturing recorded its largest annual production level, producing 411,171 X model vehicles during 2016. This record ensures that the Spartanburg, South Carolina, plant will continue to be the largest plan by volume in the BMW Group global production network. The plant exported 287,700 vehicles last year, which works out to 70 percent of its total production.

In December, the Spartanburg plant welcomed Knudt Flor as the seventh, President and CEO of BMW Manufacturing. “Last year was a very successful year for Plant Spartanburg,” stated Mr. Flor. “Our X models continue to be extremely popular worldwide, and I’m proud of the commitment shown by our team of dedicated associates to deliver premium quality vehicles for our customers.”

BMW Manufacturing is preparing for the future as it readies the plant for production of a fifth model in the lineup – the all-new BMW X7. Projects include constructing a state-of-the-art body shop and an expansion of the Assembly Hall used for X5/X6 models.
