All the way back in October, we were giving you fine folks a first look at our upcoming BMW 2-Series models. While it was all very exciting, it was only just the beginning for our favorite automaker here at BMW of Anchorage.

And now that we've gotten a sneak peak at the 2016 BMW 5-Series, the excitement continues to grow.

Set to arrive Stateside sometime in 2015, the seventh-generation 5-Series was recently caught testing under heavy camouflage. Being the case, there remain questions that need answering. Then again, camouflage can only hide so much.

From what we've gathered, the 2016 5-Series looks to possess a much sleeker, smoother design that what we're used to seeing from the nameplate. It's slated to come in sedan, GT and Touring styles and boast a lower co-efficient of drag as well. Furthermore, it will be built on an OKL platform comprised of steel, aluminum and carbon fiber parts (the same platform being used on future BMW X5 models).

In terms of powertrain, we're still waiting on specifics, but rumor has it that four- and six-cylinder engine options will be available in both gasoline and diesel. If all goes according to plan, there might even be a V8 paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission on the horizon.

So until we hear more, feel free to tide yourself over with a spin in the 2013 BMW 528i at our dealership here in Anchorage, AK. Take it from us: the excitement is warranted.
